Widely known as “the nation’s medicine chest,” New Jersey is home to nineteen of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and medical technology companies. “The pharmaceutical industry is a tremendously important component of our nation’s economy, both now and for the future. In order to maintain our edge in this industry, business schools must take a lead in educating managers who aspire to become a part of this industry, as well as to give those currently in the field a way to enhance their credentials. Our online degree’s concentration in pharmaceutical management delivers New Jersey’s significant base of pharmaceutical knowledge to students who live and work across the country and around the world, “explains Karen Boroff, Ph.D., dean of the Stillman School of Business. Philip DiSalvio, Ed.D., managing director of SetonWorldWide adds,” Our new Stillman Online M.B.A meets the need for continuous learning that is coming to characterize today’ technologically-savvy global economy, particularly within the pharmaceutical sector.”

Only a handful of high quality institutions like Seton Hall offer a full M.B.A. program online. Other universities offer specializations such as pharmaceutical operations, but without the convenience of online learning. The 42-credit Stillman Online M.B.A. through SetonWorldWide trains managers in just 23 months by providing a strong foundation in accounting, economics, behavioral and quantitative sciences as well as the functional areas of business including e-commerce.

Brian Greenstein, Ph.D., the director of graduate tax and financial planning programs at Seton Hall University, has been appointed academic director of the Stillman Online M.B.A. through SetonWorldWide. Previously affiliated with several international accounting firms, Greenstein is a frequent contributor to both professional and academic journals and has published numerous articles in journals such as The Tax Adviser, The Journal of Taxation and the CPA Journal. His articles have been cited by the United States Supreme Court and he has been solicited for policy input by members of the Senate Finance Committee.

In conjunction with an interdisciplinary team of outstanding faculty members, Greenstein has adapted the challenging Stillman School curriculum for the online learning environment. While three on-campus residencies are required of all SetonWorldWide students, they complete most of their coursework online participating in both real-time, live, online discussions, as well as asynchronus or threaded discussions and online research. Students achieve specialization in pharmaceutical management or finance through a capstone course that synthesizes concepts and practices covered in prior coursework. The capstone includes a computerized simulation that provides student teams with an opportunity to coordinate production, marketing and financial objectives in strategic and operating plans for a pharmaceutical business or finance.

Business education began at Seton Hall in 1936 when the first courses in accounting, finance, international trade and business law were offered. The Stillman School is committed to its mission of being the school of choice for business education in the state of New Jersey and to being recognized nationally among the best business schools within a Catholic university.
