Schlumberger Deploys Saba Learning to Align Employee Training and Certification
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., June 18 — Saba (Nasdaq: SABA), the leading provider of Human Capital Development and Management (HCDM) solutions, today announced that Schlumberger, a global technology services company, has deployed Saba Learning, Enterprise Edition to manage its learning activities, streamline internal certification management procedures, manage competencies, and enable all its employees worldwide to access learning.
The e-Learning Division of SchlumbergerSema, the information technology segment of Schlumberger, deployed the Saba system. Phase one of the project involved the internal service groups of Schlumberger Oilfield Services, which supplies products, services, and technical solutions to the oil and gas exploration and production industry. In the second phase, the project will be expanded to other Schlumberger groups and Schlumberger’s customers to reach a total of more than 75,000 learners and 1,000 education managers.
“Leading organizations in Europe are accelerating their adoption of e-learning technology designed to increase productivity and performance throughout customers, partners, and employees,” said Geno Tolari, Saba President and CEO. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide Schlumberger with the tools required to assure execution of its business objectives.”
Schlumberger selected the Saba system to manage its training programs and certifications because the single Saba system offered more robust functionality than the previous, multiple systems used by Schlumberger. Schlumberger is using Saba Learning to streamline the management of its learning activities, including the management of more than one million technical documents. Schlumberger is also using Saba Learning to increase the efficiency of its internal processes for QHSE (Quality Health Safety Environment) certification. With the new system, managers can track certifications, enabling individual audits of the courses completed.
Using Saba Learning, employees can easily access their individual development plans. These plans outline the first 36 months of training, including more than 300 training modules providing web-based training, instructor-led training, on the job training, and tests. Employees can access training courses that are pre-selected based on their job role and personalized by their manager or by the results of tests. Schlumberger can then track all the training completed and the competencies acquired to evaluate and define the employee’s evolution and role within the company.
Saba Learning integrates with other business-critical applications at Schlumberger, including SAP HR and its internal document management system. The Saba system is secure and easily accessible at any time and from any location by using a Web browser. The single Saba system also enables Schlumberger to reduce maintenance and the administrative redundancies and costs associated with managing multiple, disparate learning systems.
