Position Announcement: University of Nevada, Reno: Web Course Designer, Independent Learning Program

Job Description: Full-time administrative faculty position, reporting to the

Director of Independent Learning and Summer Session, College of Extended

Studies. The position is responsible for designing, maintaining, and

updating online courses using appropriate layout and design for this

teaching methodology. Current course software being used is WebCT. Works

with Independent Learning production team and faculty during design and

development phase and trains instructors who will be teaching online. This

position is also responsible for marketing the courses by researching,

locating, and connecting to appropriate links, search engines and major

educational websites. Serve as technical support to faculty and students,

as needed.

Qualifications: baccalaureate degree required in related field with two

years experience in higher education or Masters degree with one year

experience in higher education. Preference given for degrees in Educational

Technology, Computer Science, Journalism or other related field.

Job Ability Criteria:

    1. Demonstrated ability to design online courses in WebCT or comparable

    course software as well as possessing a good understanding of online

    methodologies and general curriculum design;

    2. Demonstrated understanding of hardware systems, internet browsers and

    html;

    3. Demonstrated knowledge of online marketing opportunities;

    4. Ability to plan, organize, and perform a myriad of tasks and projects;

    5. Demonstrated ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.

6. Ability to train faculty to manage online courses.

Term of Contract: Twelve month, full time administrative faculty

appointment, renewable annually. This is a non-tenure position and

continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funds.

Salary: $35,280 minimum

Start Date: As soon as possible
