FPL Group Selects Plateau Systems to Manage Learning for all Nuclear Operations
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – February 11, 2003 -Plateau Systems, a provider of enterprise software that manages all of an organization’s learning and knowledge, announced today that FPL Group (Florida Power & Light), one of the nations’ largest providers of electricity-related services, has selected Plateau 4 Learning Management System (LMS) to schedule, deliver and manage Web-based and classroom learning for all of its nuclear power operations.
FPL Group will implement Plateau 4 LMS to manage mission-critical and career-enhancement training for the employees and contractors at its nuclear power plants in Florida and New Hampshire. FPL Group plans to migrate up to 33 percent of its nuclear training to an online format. Plateau 4 LMS manages online learning, classroom training and all associated resources and logistics on one scalable platform.
Plateau 4 LMS provides the following strategic benefits for enterprise customers:
· Enhanced performance and quality: targeted learning that meets unique employee and organizational performance needs is managed and delivered automatically
· Improved accountability and efficiency: information being managed on multiple systems is consolidated, improving efficiency and access to knowledge
· Greater flexibility, empowerment and speed: with single access to a variety of learning resources, employees are able to learn on demand, at any place or time
· Improved cost-effectiveness and productivity: moving courses online reduces employee time away from work, allowing for greater production at a lower cost
All employees and contractors who access nuclear plants must undergo continual training in a variety of areas. Plant operators must receive accreditation from the National Nuclear Accrediting Board in nuclear operations, maintenance, chemistry, health physics and engineering. Plateau 4 LMS is uniquely aligned to meet these rigorous training and quality control demands. It is able to identify training needs for thousands of individuals based on their job positions or “qualifications,” and automatically alert them by email when training requirements come due. Plateau 4 LMS generates time-stamped audit trails and provides secure, PIN-based e-signatures to ensure training is auditable and conformant to state, local and federal regulations.
FPL Group plans to use Plateau 4 LMS to manage and deliver its innovative nuclear leadership development program, which identifies and grooms supervisors and managers for leadership positions. Plateau 4 LMS also will be integrated with Documentum and SAP enterprise software systems to automatically retrieve and deliver relevant training material and procedure updates to affected employees.
”We are very proud to welcome FPL Group as our newest enterprise energy customer,” said Paul Sparta, Plateau’s Chairman and CEO. “Plateau has provided training solutions to the nuclear power industry since the mid-1990s, and has demonstrated an ability to generate substantial Return on Investment (ROI) for any organization that has mission-critical learning needs.”
