Element K Introduces Learn It Online® -Online Courses for Continuing Education
ROCHESTER, N.Y., October 1, 2002 – Element K®, a leading provider of e-learning solutions for business and technology skills, announced today the introduction of Learn It Online – an e-learning solution featuring online courses that continuing education departments, community colleges, and career schools can resell to students.
Featuring eight- to twelve-week term online course schedules and comprehensive certification preparation bundles with annual terms, Learn It Online is custom-packaged for continuing education and is designed to complement existing course offerings without risk and without the incremental expense of additional staff and resources. As part of a turnkey solution, Learn It Online courses can be implemented quickly and easily, and can be resold to students. The Learn It Online solution allows schools the flexibility and control of their offering; they can choose courses that meet their local needs, market these courses at appropriate prices, and manage registration.
The Learn It Online solution features:
- A customized, branded website that can be integrated into the school’s website;
- Learning options that accommodate different learning styles (self-study online, instructor-facilitated online, online reference material);
- CEU-certified instructor-facilitated courses (PC and Macintosh) covering in-demand IT topics like databases and web design;
- 200 self-study courses (PC and Macintosh) on topics such as desktop applications, design and media, networks and operating systems.
Nearly 50 schools have signed up to resell Element K online courses since Learn It Online was released late this summer. These schools include Georgia Virtual Technical College, Indiana University Southeast, Salt Lake Community College, Trident Technical College, University of Findlay, and Upper Cape Code Regional Technical College.
“With Learn It Online, Element K has given our continuing education program the opportunity to expand its course offerings to a highly technical area with minimal effort or expense,” said Susan Vigliano, Director of Continuing Education at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School. “And, through the implementation/initiation process, Element K’s customer support team has been extremely informative, knowledgeable, and helpful. Element K and Learn It Online have more than met my expectations.”
“Due to current economic conditions, continuing education departments are facing increased demand for courses in IT topics such as web design and development, database administration, and advanced desktop applications. The opportunity to serve this demand must be addressed quickly and without significant additions to faculty and facilities,” said Dave Snider, senior director of segment marketing at Element K. “Learn It Online can help continuing education departments and career schools enhance their offerings with these popular IT topics through a turnkey, branded solution they can integrate through their own website and resell to students.”
