Digital Learning Games to Expand Nationwide
Math is dull and boring.
That’s what Edward Solis thought. He asked his teacher at the School of Global Studies in L.A., “When am I ever going to use this kind of math in life?”
“I was good at math, but I always found it boring, so I wasn’t really into math,” Solis said.
Then he asked to do an internship at school that involved computer-based games. Over the summer, the senior and six other students created a game using MathMaker, a game design program from the nonprofit research organization GameDesk. The organization’s board of directors includes Bill Nye, “The Science Guy.”
