Corporate E-Llearners Get Connected With COROUS

A specially created network is bringing companies together to share their ideas

and experiences about e-learning.

The COROUS Connect Network, set up by the Open University’s corporate arm, holds

quarterly meetings for members, hosts online discussion topics each month and

offers online resources, presentations and information.

The Network, which has been meeting informally for 18 months, attracts up to

40 companies to each meeting, all interested in e-learning, but with varying

experience. "Some companies want to know about online learning, but haven’t

implemented any learning yet, others are very experienced and have well established

online staff development programmes," said COROUS Commercial Director Marion

Baldwin. "Whatever stage they are at, the networking sessions offer organisations

the opportunity to share ideas and information in a fast-growing, ever-changing

sector and because our members use a variety of suppliers the range of experience

is diverse," she added.

COROUS specialises in creating tailor-made online learning for corporate clients,

but Connect Network members use a number of suppliers to deliver their e-learning

solutions so the Network is an open and independent forum for debate.

Members include Abbey National, Barclays, Janssen-Cilag, Powergen, Shell, Bacon

and Woodrow, DfES, BAA, Johnson and Johnson and Royal and SunAlliance.

Editors’ Notes

Forthcoming discussion topics for COROUS Connect Network include collaborative

tools for e-learning, providing support for e-learners, accreditation, and how

to test the effectiveness of e-learning. Organisations can join the Network

and debate these issues, as well as attending the quarterly meetings and having

access to a variety of online resources for £2,500 +VAT. For more information
