Architect of McKinsey Learning Joins Intrepid Learning Solutions Advisory Board
The company’s advisors, which include global leaders in training management, learning theory, and outsourcing, provide Intrepid management with ongoing counsel and assistance on how best to expand and improve Intrepid’s industry leading training services.
Until his retirement earlier this year, Obermayer was a director and senior partner at McKinsey. After serving as head of the McKinsey practices in Norway, Sweden and Eastern Europe, Obermayer set about building a state-of-the-art approach to learning far beyond any existing corporate university. The McKinsey Institute, as it is known, is open to McKinsey consultants and – on a programmatic basis – to clients.
In addition, with his team of specialists in London, New York and Singapore, Obermayer advised clients on learning and people development questions. In particular, he has recently advised clients across a wide range of industries – including banking and professional services – on systematic capability building efforts in support of large-scale corporate transformation programs.

Obermayer holds an MSc degree in chemical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, a PhD summa cum laude in Biochemistry from the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry and University of Munich, and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau.
