AP Label Loses Some of Its Luster
Advanced Placement, once a small program offering college-level material to elite high school students, has become the closest thing there is to a national curriculum, with courses offered in nearly 60 percent of U.S. high schools. At the same time, it is facing new scrutiny as educators debate whether it has become a victim of its own success.
