East Carolina University Selects SunGard SCT Technologies and Services
MALVERN, Pa., February 16, 2005 — East Carolina University will implement SunGard SCT solutions to help provide high-quality services to its growing student base and to increase access to data for strategic analysis and decision making, it was announced today by SunGard SCT, an operating unit of SunGard (NYSE:SDS). The solutions include SCT Banner, SCT Operational Data Solution (ODS) and SCT Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
“We anticipate that our enrollment will grow by 6,000 to 8,000 students in the next few years,†said Don Sweet, associate chief information officer, East Carolina University (ECU). “The integration among the SCT Banner modules and with other solutions will help us to continue to provide a high level of services to our students, faculty, and staff without increasing our staff significantly. The SCT ODS and SCT EDW will provide our users with easy access to data so they can make informed decisions about how best to serve our students and meet our growing enrollment.â€
The SunGard SCT solutions will help the University expand and manage a Unified Digital Campus — an environment in which distributed systems, individuals, and communities can interact seamlessly for the purposes of administration, teaching, and learning. Key components of ECU’s Unified Digital Campus include SCT Banner, a tightly integrated suite of proven, scalable, enterprise-wide applications on a single database; and SCT EDW and SCT ODS, which integrate with SCT Banner. The SCT ODS contains current operational data formatted for ease of ad hoc reporting while the SCT EDW captures historical enterprise data from SCT Banner as well as disparate systems and transforms it into a wide variety of reporting dimensions to help meet various informational needs.

The University also contracted for SunGard SCT services in the areas of business process analysis, training, consulting, and project management to help speed the pace of implementation; and remote database administrator (DBA) services. Other SunGard SCT solutions licensed by the University include SCT Workflow, SCT Xtender Solutions, SCT e~Print Reports, SCT Campus Loan Manager, and SCT fsaATLAS.
