Institutional Repository Deployment in the United States as of Early 2005
Introduction
In the spring of 2005, the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) surveyed its academic member institutions to examine the current state of institutional repositories (IRs) in the US. This effort was coordinated with the work CNI performed in compiling information for the United States country report in preparation for an international conference titled “Making the Strategic Case for Institutional Repositories,” held in Amsterdam on May 10-11, 2005. This conference was jointly sponsored by CNI, the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) in the United Kingdom and the SURF foundation in the Netherlands. Thirteen nations participated by providing data on the state of repository deployment in their countries.
