CoSN Calls on Congress to Pass Needed Legislative E-rate Fix
Washington, D.C. (April 11, 2005) – The Board Chair of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) testified before the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee today in support of Erate, the federal program providing discounted telecommunications access to schools and libraries. Sheryl Abshire, District Administrative Coordinator of Technology for Calcasieu Parish Public Schools in Lake Charles, LA, described how essential the E-rate program is for school districts like her own and provided compelling examples of the dangers of disrupting educational access to the Internet and other telecommunications services.
