Middle School Students to Gain High Tech Knowledge Through Greenway Medical Technologies

November 6, 2001

Through a donation from Greenway Medical Technologies, students at Jonesville Middle School can now learn and apply computer programming knowledge as part of an ongoing, annual project.

The school recently purchased desktop publishing software with a monetary donation from the healthcare management software solutions provider and will receive ongoing training and IT support from Greenway Medical volunteers.

All students at the school have access to the upgraded computer lab. The school has also dedicated one class per day to “The Greenway Project,” a group of approximately 20 students who will learn desktop publishing, Web site design, digital photography, and other information technology skills.

“Greenway Medical has raised the bar for all stakeholders in the educational system,” said Barry W. Williams, principal of Jonesville Middle School. “Our students benefit because they see, first hand, how they can apply computer knowledge to the `real world.’ Our community benefits because we now have a tremendous upgrade in our computer lab. We hope that through this annual program, our students will discover and, if interested, have the educational tools necessary to explore career opportunities in information technology.”

Founded in August 2000, Jonesville Middle School is a part of the Carroll County School System and serves approximately 500 students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. The school serves the communities of Bowdon and Mt. Zion.

“We feel that an important part of our corporate mission is to help take care of the communities in which we live,” said Tee Green, president and COO of Greenway Medical Technologies. “Our children have the potential to make a huge impact on our world and we feel privileged to be able to help them along the way. We are issuing a challenge to other local businesses to join with us in taking an active role in the education of our community’s children.”
