$200M high-speed Internet program to benefit university communities
The digital corporation Gigabit Squared on Wednesday (May 23) unveiled its Neighborhood Gateway Program, an initiative that will provide $200 million in funding for up to six Gigabit University (Gig.U) member institutions. Gig.U is a nationwide consortium of universities and communities working toward the development of ultra high-speed networks for leading U.S. universities and their local communities. As a key partner in the Gig.U initiative, Penn State and its surrounding communities will be considered in the competitive process for Gateway Program funding. Winning communities will be selected between November and the first quarter of 2013.
