Website Provides One-Stop Telework Information

August 28, 2001

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the General Services Administration (GSA) recently unveiled a new website designed to provide one-stop shopping on federal telework policies. Now a single location provides access to guidance issued by both agencies and other information on initiatives and activities.

OPM Director Kay Coles James said, “In a recent speech about Americans with disabilities, the President said. . . .’The greatest challenges are often not in the job itself, but in the distance between your job and your home.’ Extending employment opportunities to people with disabilities is one of many reasons for supporting teleworking. The OPM/GSA telework.gov website covers that and much more.”

The website helps everyone – those who already telework will find helpful guidance to work more effectively with colleagues; employees who want to telework can access a self-help guide; and managers can access resources for effective telework management. Website links provide access to research findings, success stories, policy guidance, federal telework centers, and information about the design and implementation of telework programs.

Telework.gov features include:

  • Links to both OPM and GSA websites on telework

Current news relating to federal telework initiatives and agency initiatives

  • Links to agency telework policies

  • A link to Frequently Asked Questions on telework

  • A link to telework centers available for federal employees

Telework – good for business – good for the environment.
