Virtual Academics Announces Wireless Initiative

April 3, 2001

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Steven M. Bettinger, president and CEO of Virtual Academics (OTC Bulletin Board: VADC – news), said today that VADC’s plans to develop systems and courses for wireless education and training are proceeding. “We believe the academic delivery systems that we are developing and testing will change distance learning for schools and corporate training programs,” Mr. Bettinger explained. “By offering wireless education and training through Palm devices and, soon, through WAP technology, we believe that new markets will become available to us.”

VADC is currently offering a limited number of its business courses through Palm wireless technology, which also provides students the means to post messages, communicate with instructors and fellow students, and take exams. VADC is also in the process of testing course offerings via WAP technology that will be accessible through Internet-enabled cellular telephones.

Mr. Bettinger added, “Our goal, through the wireless services and applications we are developing, is to offer to academic institutions, corporations and government agencies the ability to reach students and employees for whom the traditional Internet-based distance education is not practical, such as employees who travel a great deal.”
