VBrick Joins Extreme Network’s ‘Go Purple’ Partner Program

January 31, 2001

WALLINGFORD, Conn. — VBrick Systems, Inc., an innovator in low-cost TV-quality video networking products, announced today that it has joined Extreme Networks’ “Go Purple” partner program. VBrick is the first network video equipment manufacturer to be accepted in this prestigious program.

Extreme Networks’ “Go Purple” Solution Partners program brings together select technology vendors with proven solutions that help remove complexity and improve the functionality of high performance networks. All “Go Purple” partners have demonstrated interoperability with Extreme Networks’ Gigabit Ethernet switching solutions and provide a best of breed solution. Additionally, partners cooperate to jointly market product solutions through a combination of joint sales and marketing activities, including seminars and tradeshows.

“VBrick is delighted to join the partner program,” said Rich Mavrogeanes, president, founder and chairman of VBrick Systems, Inc. “VBricks deliver MPEG video via IP Multicast to a virtually unlimited number of users, providing digital television for corporate communications, education, security & monitoring and distance learning. VBricks are specifically designed to operate in medium- to high-bandwidth, switched Ethernet networks. Extreme Networks ability to provide cost-effective bandwidth, excellent Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities and high-quality multicasting means a VBrick/Extreme video network will reliably deliver very high-quality video and audio,” Mr. Mavrogeanes continued.

The VBrick network video appliance delivers TV-quality video and CD-quality audio in both one-way and two-way interactive applications. Unlike ISDN-class video-conferencing systems, VBricks utilize the Moving Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) video standards, the same as used by broadcasters, to deliver the highest quality video and extremely cost-effective prices.

“Vbrick provides our customers with an essential technology for delivery of high-quality video and audio streams to PCs or television monitors across their networks,” said Duncan Potter, director of product marketing for Extreme Networks, Inc. “It has always been the goal of the ‘Go Purple’ program to identify leading technologies that add value to broadband networks.”
