University of Phoenix Approves Approximately 1,500 SkillSoft Business and IT Courses for College Credit

April 10, 2005

Under SkillSoft’s agreement with the University of Phoenix’s Prior Learning Assessment Center, individuals can earn college-level credit for completion of SkillSoft courses previously taken as part of on-the-job training programs or certification curricula.

“SkillSoft’s Web-based courses offer an excellent way for professionals to develop the critical business and IT skills that are in high demand in corporate America,” said Laura Palmer-Noone, president, University of Phoenix. “The successful completion of the selected courses permits students to gain academic credits toward a bachelor’s degree while enhancing their careers and professional skills.”

The University of Phoenix offers bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees, which can be earned through successful completion of courses on campus, through the Internet, or in some cases, a combination of both. The institution has 163 campuses and learning centers in 33 states, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

“SkillSoft is committed to delivering learning solutions that help professionals continually improve job skills and productivity, but also help them achieve personal goals,” said Terry Grybosh, credential programs manager for SkillSoft. “We look forward to working with the University of Phoenix to continue to expand the list of approved courses.” SkillSoft plans to submit additional courses to the university’s Prior Learning Assessment Center for credit evaluation on a yearly basis.
