UKD Academy and San Diego State University, College of Extended Studies, Establish Partnership to Offer an International Certificate in Distance Education & eLearning

February 11, 2002

The Certificate in Distance Education and eLearning was developed by UKD Academy. The partnership makes it possible for students to receive credits for the 10 courses in the program, which is designed for professionals who are (or would like to become) involved in teaching and learning at a distance, and professionals who manage or staff eLearning and distance education programs; corporate instructors, human resource and training managers, etc.

Mr. P-O Lindgren, president of UKD Academy, said: “We are really proud of the Distance Education & eLearning Program. We have created the program based on many years of hands-on experience in distance learning, as well as from the latest research in the field. Our course materials are of highest standards, and so are the faculty and support. We are also very proud of the fact that San Diego State University, College of Extended Studies, has approved of the program and wants to collaborate in offering the program to students in U.S. and the world. People have shown great interest in the program and we are anticipating large enrollment numbers. We are also able to offer financing, which will benefit our students. But then again, you don’t have to leave work to take online courses from UKD Academy.”

Dr. Fred Saba, professor of Educational Technology at San Diego State University, an international expert in distance education, who also has contributed to the development of this program, added: “The dramatic expansion in distance education indicates that executives and administrators who would like to stay at the forefront of a rapidly developing and increasingly global economy know the value of their employees being able to learn at a distance. Organizations which take advantage of eLearning are those who will remain highly competitive, and ready to face the challenges of tomorrow, regardless of where they have to deploy their workforce — across the city, throughout the country or around the globe.”
