Temple University Gains Cost Savings and Expertise by Outsourcing Technical Operations to SunGard SCT

February 4, 2005

MALVERN, Pa., February 03, 2005 — Temple University has extended its outsourcing relationship with SunGard SCT for five more years of on-site support of the University’s mainframe environment, it was announced today by SunGard SCT, an operating unit of SunGard (NYSE:SDS).

Temple University has relied on SunGard SCT outsourcing services since 1977. Under the contract, SunGard SCT will continue to provide technical operations, production control, operations support, technical services, and help desk support.

“By outsourcing these functions to reliable industry experts, our own IT staff can concentrate on development, system enhancements, and academic applications that help enhance our teaching and learning environment,” said Timothy C. O’Rourke, vice president for computer and information services, Temple University. “We could not develop the expertise or make available the services provided by SunGard SCT as efficiently by ourselves. SCT has been a great partner.”

“Outsourcing is another example of how SunGard SCT can provide an institution with tailored services and solutions to meet its individual needs,” said Mike Makos, vice president for outsourcing and application hosting, SunGard SCT. “In this example, Temple University gains mission-critical support of its IT infrastructure with cost savings and with documented performance metrics.”

SunGard SCT outsourcing services help to provide:

    · Predictable costs over the term of the contract,
    · A combination of on-site and remote resources tailored to each institution,
    · Mission critical management, infrastructure planning, and technical skills,
    · The ability to control and adjust staffing levels during the contract,
    · Additional as-needed staffing through just-in-time resources,
    · Performance measurement driven by continuous improvement and service level metrics,
    · Higher education best practice standards to help improve IT performance and value, and reduce operational risks.
