Sylvan Ventures invest $32.8 million in school

Baltimore-based Sylvan Ventures LLC, the venture capital arm of Sylvan Learning Systems Inc., paid $32.8 million for 41 percent of Walden University, an online university based in Bonita Springs, Fla. The investment will be made in the next 18 months, company officials said.
