SMU [Southern Methodist University] Engineering Offers Tuition Discount for Active Duty

August 20, 2003

The School of Engineering offers 19 Master’s Degrees to off-campus students including Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Engineering and Management, Environmental Engineering and many more industry and government relevant degree programs.

SMU’s School of Engineering has been offering courses to distance education students since 1968. There are currently about 40 Active Duty Military Personnel currently taking advantage of this policy. The programs are delivered on videotape and/or DVD. The courses are exactly the same as the on-campus student experience. The SoE faculty have the “culture of distance education” and work with the military students by email and telephone. The hallmark of the SMU program is flexibility and convenience. “It’s our way of saying thanks to the men and women of the U-S armed forces for their service to country, and a way to make a private school education more affordable,” said J. Kim McNutt, Director of Distance Education at the SMU School of Engineering. For details on enrollment criteria and qualifications, visit the SMU Engineering website at www.engr.smu.edu Click on the Distance Learning tab and click on the Military Programs link.
