SmartForce Signs Multi-Million Dollar Contract with TELUS Corporation

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—August 19, 2002–SmartForce (Nasdaq: SMTF), the world’s largest and most experienced e-Learning company, today announced a three-year, $4.1 million, agreement to provide e-Learning to 5,000 information technology professionals of TELUS, one of Canada’s leading telecommunications companies.

Providing wireless and data/IP services to Canadians at home, at work and on the move, TELUS selected SmartForce to keep its employees current on evolving technologies and to increase the number of technical certifications attained by employees. TELUS continues to make investments in its internal capabilities operating under the philosophy that it is the 28,000 members of the TELUS team that forms the company’s major competitive advantage. The learning solution will consistently deliver the knowledge to enhance the skills of the company’s information technologists, which will serve a critical need in an industry driven by increasingly sophisticated technology.

From the MySmartForce learning platform, employees will access award-winning instructional content specific to furthering the company’s growth in data and IP services. Furthermore, employees will experience the added benefits of advanced simulations, assessments, online seminars and workshops and real-time mentoring with subject-matter experts, all of which are targeted to drive gains in workforce productivity.
