SkillSoft Signs Agreement with Northcentral Technical College to Offer College Credit for SkillSoft Course Completions

April 29, 2004

NASHUA, N.H., April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — SkillSoft PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of enterprise e-learning, today announced that it has signed an articulation agreement with Northcentral Technical College, located in central Wisconsin. The agreement allows those who have completed selected SkillSoft courses to petition for credit that will apply toward elective areas within Northcentral Technical College’s associate degree programs or toward a Northcentral Technical College online technical certificate in business management, Office XP, Office 2000 or Office 97. SkillSoft e-learning courses are used by thousands of corporations and government agencies worldwide. The agreement between SkillSoft and Northcentral Technical College gives business and IT professionals the opportunity to obtain college credit for work-related training and on-going skills development.

To receive credit for a SkillSoft course, a student must score 75 percent or higher on the assessment included with each course. Students can receive one to three college credits for selected course combinations. The 700-plus SkillSoft courses approved for credit are identified in the Northcentral Technical College/SkillSoft course equivalency list, which can be found at http://www.skillsoft.com/partners/academic/ntc.asp. For example, successful completion of SkillSoft’s business law course series, comprised of six courses, would earn the student two college credits.

“The last 75 years of the technical college system in Wisconsin have seen vast changes-changes in technology needs and changes in programs to meet these new technology needs. And, along the way, our students at Northcentral Technical College have changed,” said Robert C. Ernst, Ph.D., president of Northcentral Technical College. “Increasingly, our students are older; they live miles from our Central Campus in Wausau, Wisconsin; and they have a job, family, and a busy lifestyle. So they need flexibility in the way their education is delivered. This articulation agreement with SkillSoft helps us to facilitate our students’ needs in offering the most up-to-date, interactive instructional content in a format that allows access to the content 24/7. Online instructional offerings continue to increase at Northcentral Technical College as many students demand the freedom of anytime, anywhere, anyplace education.”
