SkillSoft e-Learning Courseware is First to be Certified for Interoperability with SAP Learning Solution

December 4, 2003

Nashua, N.H., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — SkillSoft PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of e-learning courseware and referenceware for business and IT professionals, today announced that its business and IT skills libraries, with a total of more than 4,000 courses in 15 languages, has been certified by SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) for seamless interoperability with the SAP Learning Solution enterprise platform. SkillSoft is the first content provider to achieve certification under SAP’s Content Interface Certification Program.

The certified interoperability of SkillSoft’s content with the SAP Learning Solution gives companies the ability to map specific courses to competency requirements, to associate learning activities and results with personal development plans, and to incorporate e-learning with classroom and other learning activities into blended curricula — without incremental implentation or customization costs. The SAP Learning Solution, launched last year, is a key component of mySAP Human Resources, the SAP’s comprehensive, enterprise-wide human capital management solution.

SAP certification, distinguished by the vendor’s right to use the tagline “SAP Certified Integration,” is based on a rigorous review and demonstration process for each type of course offered by a vendor. To ensure a consistent certification review process, each vendor applying for certification must follow standard test scripts for content integration developed by SAP, demonstrate the ability to import and run content in the live SAP Learning Solution authoring and learning management environments, pass assessment standards for SCORM 1.2 compliance, and create training and consulting support tools and processes.

Concurrent to the certification process, SkillSoft and T-Systems, a provider of IT services and solutions, have worked together to prepare for the implementation of a comprehensive learning solution for T-Mobile, a wireless service provider. The solution, which incorporates SkillSoft’s business and IT skills libraries, as well the SAP Learning Solution, is targeted for rollout within the next weeks. T-Systems and T-Mobile are subsidiaries of Deutsche Telekom AG, one of Europe’s largest telecommunications company and a global telecom leader.

“We’re very pleased to be the first learning content provider to achieve SAP integration certification,” said Chuck Moran, president and CEO of SkillSoft. “We understand the importance of certified interoperability to clients and thus have always placed great emphasis on establishing successful, working relationships with technology partners.”

“A key component to the success of the SAP certification partnership is the availability of dedicated support assistance to meet the needs of SAP’s global customer base,” said Juergen Theisen, general manager of SkillSoft Germany. “We’re pleased to be recognized as a trusted SAP partner for critical learning and human capital initiatives.”
