SkillSoft and Docent Host Joint Seminars on Developing Blended Learning Strategies

October 16, 2001

Nashua, NH and Mountain View, CA – October 15, 2001 – SkillSoft Corp.

(NASDAQ: SKIL), a leading provider of critical business skills courseware for eLearning solutions, and Docent, Inc. (NASDAQ: DCNT), the premier provider of eLearning software for Global 2000 companies, today announced a 16-city seminar program. The seminars, titled “How to Put Blended Learning into Practice,” are designed for human resource managers and training professionals seeking to capitalize on the cost efficiencies and learning benefits gained through blended learning.

The free seminars will offer attendees a practical methodology for developing blended learning strategies. The methodology encompasses factors such as delivery alternatives, technical infrastructure requirements, content architecture, and learning management needs. Discussion will also cover trends in learning, such as the emerging role of learning events and objects, in employee development and training.

“Blended learning is emerging as a powerful component of organizations overall eLearning initiatives,” said Malcolm Hobbs, senior vice president of marketing of Docent. “Through these seminars, Docent and SkillSoft will provide customers with proven blended learning strategies to personalize workforce development and achieve measurable business results.”

“We’ve found that while many companies immediately recognize the benefits of blended learning, there’s much confusion about how to actually put it into practice,” said Bryan Austin, general manager of SkillSoft’s Client Services. “Since blended learning is relatively new, there are few best practices to follow. To further complicate the planning process, blended learning encompasses so many variables that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. The methodology and consultative approach we’ve developed has proven to be a valuable roadmap for companies looking to make this evolution.”

Seminar Schedule

On-site registration for the free seminars is from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. The program begins at 8:30 and ends at 11:30 a.m. and includes a question-and-answer session. To make reservations and get details on specific seminar locations, call 800 327 6960, ext. 283 or go to www.skillsoft.com/news.
