Sen. Landrieu Salutes Louisiana Women

March 2, 2001

Washington, D.C. — In honor of National Women’s History Month, Sen. Mary L. Landrieu (D-La.) is spotlighting a prominent woman with Louisiana ties each weekday during March on her Senate web site.

Sen. Landrieu’s month-long salute will recognize authors, educators, activists and other leaders whose groundbreaking efforts have inspired people throughout Louisiana and across the nation.

“Louisiana’s past and present is rich with women who have achieved great successes and in the process opened the doors for many other young women to do the same,” Sen. Landrieu. “It is appropriate that we take the time during National Women’s History Month to recognize their many and varied efforts.”

Students are encouraged to log on each day and take advantage of this opportunity to learn about a few of the Louisiana women whose contributions have helped shape our world and opened doors for all women.
