Saba Helps Amazon.com Extend E-Learning Solutions

April 9, 2002

Saba announced that global online retailer Amazon.com has expanded access to Saba3 Release4 to encompass its entire global workforce. Amazon.com will leverage the Saba platform to continue supporting its operational excellence goals and to add capabilities to manage redundant employee development and communication initiatives across the company.

In May of 1999, Amazon.com deployed the Saba platform across five U.S. fulfillment centers in response to the exploding growth of both its centers and its holiday season sales. The success and value of this learning program resulted in the Amazon.com decision to expand access to the Saba platform across all departments, including Human Resources, IT, Corporate, and International.

Amazon.com will manage employee learning and knowledge exchange by utilizing Saba3 Release4, including Saba Learning, Saba Content, and Saba Dialog. By expanding the use of the Saba platform, Amazon.com can leverage employee development impact on the business metrics of the entire organization, including profitability, quality, productivity, performance, compliance, and safety.

Christopher Elmer, Senior Manager at Amazon.com, said: “Amazon.com is committed to providing the information, skills, and tools required for employee development and to ensure operational excellence.”

Amazon.com is currently utilizing the standards-based Saba platform to provide all forms of learning such as instructor-led training, web-based training, self-paced learning content on CD-ROMs, and streaming media titles.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to expand our relationship with Amazon,” said Saba Founder and Chairman of the Board, Bobby Yazdani. “By implementing solutions such as Saba3 Release4, Amazon.com can increase its laser focus on what is most important to the company – serving its customers.”
