February 28, 2001

CALGARY, Canada – Quick Link Communications Ltd. (QLC), a leading Satellite Access Service Provider, is pleased to announce that it has completed the provision of broadband data and Internet services to Pukatawagan, a First Nations community located approximately 300 km Northwest of Thompson, Manitoba. The Band and Education officials at Pukatawagan recognized the need for resources available on the Internet and the important role it plays in the development of the community through various educational, business and cultural initiatives. The Band looked to QLC to provide an effective broadband data and Internet connection.

QLC has provided its CampusNet solution to connect Pukatawagan through its Network Operating Centre (NOC) in Calgary in order to deliver high-speed Internet access over satellite. The Internet service is delivered to the community consisting of schools, administrative buildings and homes via a two-way satellite service and a point-to-multipoint wireless network. Caching technology is also used to increase the efficiency of the network by storing multimedia content, such as educational courses on local servers which enable fast access to many users.

“The CampusNet solution has been instrumental in connecting Pukatawagan to the world via the Web,” said Sherman Lewis, Director of Technology for Sakastew School. “We are delighted at what a positive effect CampusNet is having in our northern community and look forward to continuing our relationship with QLC.”

“QLC is committed to providing our satellite solutions to Pukatawagan and other remote communities in order to offer residents the benefits of effective high-speed broadband Internet solutions that will ultimately enhance their educational and business initiatives,” said Chris Lewis, President and CEO of QLC.
