ProsoftTraining Announces Publishing Partnership with Blackboard Inc

February 27, 2002

ProsoftTraining announced a publishing partnership with Blackboard Inc.

Under the terms of the agreement, Prosoft will offer Blackboard Course Cartridges for its CIW Foundations, CIW Site Designer and CIW E-Commerce Designer courses.

The unique needs of academic institutions call for specialized turnkey products capable of combining traditional classroom materials with a customizable online component. CIW course cartridges allow academic institutions that have adopted Blackboard to incorporate a suite of fully customizable online CIW course materials as a supplement to other CIW course materials. Course cartridges enable instructors to jump-start the online course creation process. Instructors can customize and manage the content within the course environment to fit their individual teaching styles and their students’ learning needs.

The Blackboard’s e-Education software is currently installed at more than 2,300 institutions in 45 countries. CIW is now being integrated into many academic course programs because it is a job-role certification that can help graduates demonstrate they have workplace-ready skills.

“Using the Web to enhance instruction is becoming an essential part of today’s classroom environment,” said Jerry Baird Chairman and CEO of ProsoftTraining. “That is why we provide Integrated Education Solutions that combine traditional and Web-based components for teachers. Blackboard already provides the e-education infrastructure for many academic institutions. Adapting our CIW content so we can publish it through Blackboard systems makes it easy for those institutions to implement e-education for CIW classes.”

“We are pleased to partner with Prosoft and be able to offer our clients CIW Cartidges in the Blackboard 5: Learning System,” said Steve Hoffman, president and COO of Blackboard Inc. “Instructors and students will both benefit from the availability of the CIW offerings, which offer academic institutions the ability to quickly populate online courses with rich content.”
