Polycom Revolutionizes Distance Learning With New ClassStation Package — Complete Distance Learning Video Communications Packages Set New Standard For Ease of Use and Affordability

Polycom®, Inc. announced its ClassStation™ interactive video communications packages for distance-learning environments. These packages integrate all of the software and hardware components integral to a comprehensive video communications-enabled classroom into one easy-to-install and easy-to-use system. Polycom will demonstrate its ClassStation package at Telecon Expo, October 23-25, 2001 at the Anaheim, Calif. Convention Center (Booth #1201).

The ClassStation package is based on Polycom’s industry-leading VS4000 rack-mounted group video communications system, already widely deployed in custom-room environments. Designed with direct input from active distance-learning users, ClassStation is available in three different packages, small, medium and large to accommodate a wide range of distance-learning classroom needs. In addition, the packages feature CamCommand, which enables automatic switching from the instructor camera to the student camera when a student microphone is activated — a functionality that is the most automatic and transparent in the industry. The packages also include touch-to-talk microphones that, when activated, pan, tilt, zoom and focus the student camera on the speaking student.
