Perrigo Selects Plateau Systems to Manage Worldwide Learning, Enable FDA Compliance

December 18, 2002

ARLINGTON, VA – December 17, 2002 –Plateau Systems, a provider of enterprise software that manages all of an organization’s learning and knowledge, today announced that Perrigo Company, the nation’s largest manufacturer of store brand pharmaceutical and nutritional products, has selected Plateau 4 Learning Management System (LMS) to manage and track all of its employee learning. Plateau will become a key part of the company’s global compliance process for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) training regulations issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

To more easily manage its current training system, Perrigo will use Plateau 4 LMS’ online tracking features, automatic training deadline alerts, secure audit trails and in-depth management of qualifications. Plateau 4 LMS allows organizations to manage compliance training on one scalable platform, improving production and greatly reducing regulatory risk.

“Moving to Plateau 4 LMS will allow Perrigo to manage training more efficiently and effectively,” said Sara Kubanek, Perrigo’s Industrial Training Manager. “Job functions will have a development profile built in, with specific learning requirements, expiration cycles and e-mail notifications. The LMS will record employee training histories, enhancing our GMP compliance effort.”

Plateau 4 LMS will initially manage training for Perrigo’s Michigan pharmaceutical operations. Perrigo plans to expand the LMS to manage training at its other facilities in South Carolina, Mexico and England in the coming years. Perrigo will integrate its human resources information system (HRIS) with the Plateau database to maximize efficiencies. Plateau 4 LMS’ industry standard J2EE/EJB architecture seamlessly integrates with other enterprise software assets, allowing organizations to automate the business processes associated with learning and knowledge.

Perrigo manufactures and packages over-the-counter pharmaceutical and nutritional products for retail chains such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Kroger, CVS, Rite Aid and Safeway, which sell the products under their own labels. Perrigo markets roughly 1,200 products and has annual sales of more than $800 million.

“Plateau 4 LMS has been successfully implemented by more than a dozen companies throughout the FDA-regulated industries, and has become a mission-critical application for organizations that must comply with GMP and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations mandated by the FDA,” said Paul Sparta, chairman and CEO of Plateau. “We look forward to a long and productive relationship with Perrigo, a market pioneer whose products are on shelves in almost every American city.”
