On-line literacy training creates new learning opportunities for the Deaf community

October 30, 2001

Deaf literacy learners told special stories using the American Sign Language (ASL) alphabet in an important ceremony for their community today. The storytellers took part in the launch of the AlphaRoute site for Deaf learners: on-line learning specifically designed to meet the needs of Deaf adults learning English literacy and numeracy skills in the Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) Program of the Ontario Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU). The launch took place at the Holiday Inn Select Toronto Airport.
