NETg Delivers Leading Edge , e-Learning Initiative To Verizon

April 24, 2001

NAPERVILLE, IL – NETg, powering intelligent decisions through learning, has signed a multi-year agreement with Verizon, one of the world’s leading providers of communications services. The agreement makes the extensive NETg IT, Desktop and Business Skills e-Learning library available to Verizon employees via web-based access. NETg was selected based on the range of topics offered within its over 1, 000-course library, the flexibility of course delivery and the company’s proven performance in delivering effective learning program results.

Previously, NETg provided learning programs for both GTE and BellAtlantic, the companies that merged to form Verizon. More than just providing a wide range of technical and non-technical topics, NETg provides innovative technology that expands access to employees and support services that ensure the learning program is operating at peak performance.

“Learning programs must solve business problems to be truly effective,” said Gary Lopez, president and CEO of NETg. “Our reputation as a proven learning provider is based on delivering business results.”

The Verizon learning program will be deployed through a Verizon-developed Learner Management System, called “Verizon NetLearn”. Verizon employees can access a full-range of online courseware from their desktop at work, or at home.

NETg’s course architecture, based on the NETg Learning Objectâ„¢, is particularly well suited for a global web-based delivery approach. Verizon employees can choose to take a full course live over the web or download any topic or topics they need on their computer. This flexibility allows employees full mobility and effective use of time while they engage in learning.

“Having the option to deliver a quality learning experience either live over-the-web, through topic level download or via CD-ROM is critical when you’re dealing with a global employee base,” said Lopez.
