Manatee Community College selects Collegis to lead technology management and services at three Florida sites

September 18, 2003

(Maitland, Fla. — September 17, 2003) — The Manatee Community College district board of trustees has selected Collegis to manage administrative computing services and provide academic technology support at MCC’s three locations, including two full-service campuses in Bradenton and Venice and the Center for Innovation and Technology at Lakewood Ranch.

MCC and Collegis agreed to a five-year, $7.6 million agreement to deliver enhanced academic opportunities and greater efficiency to the college, which serves more than 8,000 students. In addition to managing administrative computing services, Collegis will provide MCC instructional faculty support, both online and in the classroom, and technical help desk services.

Collegis, a higher education services company based in suburban Orlando, Fla., brings a wealth of industry experience and expertise to MCC, including several years of successful academic and administrative computing implementations and program development offerings at three other Florida Gulf Coast institutions: Edison College, Hillsborough Community College and Saint Leo University, a private, Catholic institution.

“This has been a thorough selection process, and we are confident that Collegis will provide MCC with a true higher education advantage through their technology expertise,” said Manatee President Sarah H. Pappas. “The company’s success at neighboring community colleges and universities throughout Florida and the nation is an indication of the quality services we expect to receive as a result of this agreement.”

Collegis has more than 100 college and university clients nationwide including six others in Florida: Edison, Hillsborough, Valencia Community College, Broward Community College, Saint Leo University and St. Thomas University (Miami).
