Learning in an Online World. School Education Action Plan for the Information Economy.

August 12, 2003

This document consists of two main sections: “The School Education Vision” and “Key Action Areas.” In the first section, the vision is outlined, followed by an overview of school education goals for the information economy and areas of responsibility for education authorities. The goals of the action plan will be achieved through integrated approaches undertaken by stakeholders, individually and collectively across five interrelated action areas: people, infrastructure, content and services, supporting policies, and enabling regulation. Within these five key action areas, the highest priorities for the school sector are: bandwidth, professional development, and online content. Overarching strategies to achieve the action plan goals are listed, and the progress monitoring authorities are identified. The second section gives more detail on each of the five key action areas, listing goals, what is needed to achieve the goals, and strategies. (AEF)
