Knowledge Mechanics Releases Powerful e-Learning Software Platform Meeting Industry Guidelines

December 15, 2000

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Knowledge Mechanics, an XBOX Technologies(TM) company, today released Knowledge Mechanics Studio 3.1 — the company’s most comprehensive e-Learning software to date meeting applicable, industry-wide, interoperability guidelines.

“This release takes functionality to a new level, enhancing efficiency and ensuring the customer’s e-Learning investment” said Bill Klco, Knowledge Mechanics president.

Knowledge Mechanics Studio 3.1 combines its successor’s database-focused, next generation authoring platform with a number of customer-driven functionality enhancements, simplifying quality courseware creation, editing, maintenance and deployment. This powerful platform helps organizations better manage training and knowledge sharing efforts in today’s fast-paced business environment while dramatically cutting costs.

Knowledge Mechanics Studio 3.1 adheres to the Department of Defense’s Advanced Distributed Learning Sharable Courseware Object Reference Model (SCORM) guidelines. This reference model was developed by the DOD’s Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative (ADL) to establish a common technical framework for computers and net-based learning and reduce the cost of military and civilian training initiatives.

Knowledge Mechanics Studio is also designed to Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC) standards.

By meeting these standards, Knowledge Mechanics ensures interoperability with other e-Learning programs, such as Learning Management Systems — as recently demonstrated with partner Saba, Nov. 27-30, at ADL’s Plugfest 3 (re: Nov. 28, 2000 release). Knowledge Mechanics continually strives to enhance its products by responding to its customers’ current needs and envisioning those of the future.

Other primary enhancements include:

  • Adherence with SCORM and AICC standards for system interoperability

  • Support for the Microsoft Windows(TM) 2000 operating system

  • The addition of 15 standard reporting templates for student, data and courseware tracking

  • Bulk Import of content into Knowledge Mechanics Studio 3.1

  • Style Template Customization to set a consistent look and feel for documents
