Italian Training Institute IAL Buys Pathlore Software

December 2, 2003

According to IAL FVG executives, the organization sought a software platform that would simplify the delivery of training to its constituents. A top priority for IAL FVG’s team was finding a learning-management system that could not only deliver online training that mirrored the quality of its traditional classroom training but also blend the two modes of instruction.

“We needed to have a platform capable of supporting various projects, easily integrated with the existing corporate architecture and especially easy to manage,” explained Carlos De Bastiani, director of IAL FVG. “And it was important for the platform to integrate training – classroom and remote – with one interface. The Pathlore LMS gave us everything we wanted.”

To accomplish this, Pathlore implemented its system with IAL Campus, IAL’s Web portal. With the portal and LMS in place, students can take training online and under the guidance of professors and tutors.

“The value of linking a portal to an LMS comes from creating a single location for corporate information, learning and collaboration,” said Michael Brennan, program manager at market research firm IDC. “In spite of these benefits, our research shows less than 10 percent of corporations deploying a learning-management system integrate the software with a corporate portal. I expect this number to spike over the next few years.”

Brennan added, “Pathlore is demonstrating its leadership by tightly integrating learning experiences into portal software and, consequently, the workflow of employees, partners and customers.”

“We see learning – whether formal or informal – underpinning everything that happens inside an organization,” said Steve Thomas, president and chief executive officer of Pathlore. “Integrating portals and learning-management systems gives customers and employees the technology to not only find but also deliver and track the training and know-how needed to meet business goals.”
