ISOPIA Moves Industry Forward by Launching Wireless Access to e-Learning

January 31, 2001

TORONTO, Canada, Jan. 29 – ISOPIA Inc., a leading provider of e- Learning infrastructure software, today announced it has launched wireless access to its Web-based learning management software, ILMS(TM) and its hosted ASP service, LearnTone(TM). The wireless feature, which enables users to access the learning management system through cell phones, hand-held wireless devices, and Personal Digital Assistants (PDA’s), sets new standards for the transmission of training programs.

Until now, the promise of online learning has not been fully realized. The requirement for a computer and communication line has placed enormous limitations on the learning experience.

“At ISOPIA, we are committed to creating more flexible learning options,” says Payman Hodaie, Chief Technology Officer at ISOPIA. “The integration of wireless technology into ISOPIA’s products underscores our commitment to taking the industry forward, and ensures that e-Learning remains dynamic and responsive to client needs. Our focus on producing premier e-Learning technologies represents our ongoing progress towards realizing a vision of anywhere, anytime learning.”

Wireless access fundamentally transforms the way training is delivered to user populations. Engendering new capabilities for online learners to access information and administer their account by simply using a cell phone or PDA, this wireless innovation allows for unprecedented autonomy and greater efficiency in managing the learning process.

The initial customer to implement the new wireless feature is BCE Nexxia, which launched ISOPIA’s learning management system in July 1999. The system provides technical and product training for sales and marketing staff on a personalized learning portal. Now, online users can access LearnTone through wireless devices like cell phones and handsets to check on their learning activities, course information, or training status.

“Offering wireless access to online learning will be an invaluable resource for our sales and marketing staff who require current information about BCE Nexxia’s products and services whenever they need it,” says Josie Scioli, Vice President of Sales Operations at BCE Nexxia. “As Canada’s leading provider of data and Internet-based broadband communications services, our partnership with ISOPIA means we can deliver that same level of innovation internally to meet our company’s learning needs.”

ISOPIA has plans to add wireless access to courseware once the appropriate technology evolves, ultimately enabling users to download and study course materials using a PDA or cell phone.
