Interwise Integrates Java Client Technology Into Elearning Solution; First-Ever Multi-Client Environment Engages a New Generation of Elearning Users

September 26, 2000

DENVER,Colo. — InterWise®, Inc., the global leader of business-to-business eLearning solutions, today unveiled the InterWise Java client application.

The new software combined with the standard InterWise client application creates the first mixed-client software environment to enter the eLearning industry. The two InterWise client applications may be used by different training participants in the same online courses simultaneously, which eliminates the technological burden of ensuring a uniform client software base.

As the eLearning industry continues to enjoy explosive growth, the global audience using online learning is expanding at similar rates. To date, competitive offerings have required online courses be segregated into “Java client” or “standard client” classes. This course duplication is time consuming and difficult for instructors and technology professionals who must isolate one audience from another. The InterWise Java client features the full functionality of the Java language and the same robust user interface as seen in the standard InterWise client application without requiring separate online classes based on client application type.

“We believe that mixed client environments are critical applications that will facilitate the continued expansion of eLearning,” said Matt Cain, vice president for Meta Group. “The industry must continue to fuse functionality with minimal technology demands on the part of the end user to make way for a new generation of learners.”

“InterWise continues to outpace the competition by creating a simple, reliable eLearning environment that does not demand more than it delivers,” said Zvi Frank, president of InterWise. “Our corporate clients now have the power to engage a wider customer audience, while benefiting from all of the features and functionality inherent in our original client software.”

Used with InterWise Millenniumâ„¢ software version 3.0 or later, both the InterWise Java client and the standard C++ software may be employed at the same time by the different participants of an eLearning course. Instructors no longer need to discern the technological makeup of a virtual class or teach duplicate classes to different users. Participants using Java-based or standard clients can take part in the same courses simultaneously, which facilitates the learning process through peer interaction and saves time when sharing mission-critical knowledge. Information technology departments will also appreciate the lightweight InterWise Java client. The standard InterWise client application requires 2.5MB of memory, while the Java client software takes a mere 500Kb, ensuring low overhead and only moderate use of system resources.

Pricing and Availability The new InterWise Java client application is available worldwide in Fall 2000. The Java client application will be offered to InterWise customers at no additional charge.
