Internet2 Land Speed Record

The current Internet2 Land Speed Record (I2-LSR) was set by a team that included the University of Washington, the Information Sciences Institute of the University of Southern California, Qwest and Microsoft using the High Speed Connectivity Consortium (HSCC) Network to send 8.4 gigabytes worth of data from Redmond, Washington to Arlington, Virginia at a rate of over 830 megabits per second. The contest is open to anyone and has attracted entries from the fastest networkers on the face of the planet.
