Instruction Set Launches the Web Professional Learning Series Product Line

March 6, 2001

Instruction Set, a leading Education Solutions Provider™ (E*SP™), today unveiled the Web Professional Learning Series™, an eLearning solution that incorporates a custom curriculum for Web Professionals based on job function and desired career path.

Targeted at all levels of Web Professionals, developer and managerial, the Web Professional Learning Series is the first in a planned series of functional, easy to navigate, Web-based training solutions based on specific, technical job functions. Via a browser, students can actively monitor their curriculum status and launch courses, while training managers can oversee each student’s progress. The customized technology enables users to automatically generate individualized course curriculum to reflect specific career goals and enhance pertinent technical skills.

“Organizations world-wide demand an easy-to-deliver, easy-to-use, packaged, and targeted training solution,” said Cushing Anderson, program manager for IDC’s Learning Services research program. “Our analysis clearly indicates that targeted curricula for career development within specific IT job roles is immensely popular and can result in significant competitive advantages for client companies.”

Web Professional Learning Series at Work

The initial set-up process is both simple and efficient. Students select their current or desired job title and an individualized course curriculum is automatically generated. The full curriculum is comprised of five different Internet technology areas including, Web Fundamentals, Web Site Development, Web Site Development Tools, Web Application Programming and Web Integration. Within these areas there are multiple course bundles such as Electronic Commerce, HTML Programming, FrontPage 2000, Apache Web Server, Java2 Programming and multiple XML course choices. Mastering these suggested selections will lead each Web professional on a customized career path and streamline their preparation time and efforts.

With the Web Professional Learning Series, developers and their department managers have easy, instant access to their own “learning page” within Instruction Set’s Web Professional Learning Series. Students visit this “learning page” to launch preselected courses and track their individual progress. Managers can utilize their “learning page” to view each student’s activity, measure one student’s progressagainst the larger group and further “drill down” for more specific information about each participant. With 30 course bundles, 160 courses and close to 500 hours of Web based training available to users, the Web Professional Learning Series is a thorough, effective and affordable training alternative.

“For many companies today, online training is a fiscal and business `must-have’ – as the demand for skilled workers increases, the need for Web-based training increases, said Beran Peter, CEO of Instruction Set. ”Rather than investing the capital in hardware acquisition, companies who invest in educating their employees by providing a hosted online learning solution, such as the Web Professional Learning Series, ensure themselves long-term success. In this case, long-term success is measured by dollars saved, rising employee retention rates and improved work morale.”

Availability and Pricing

The Web Professional Learning Series is currently available. Pricing for a yearly Web Professional Learning Series subscription ranges from $200 to $350 based on the number of users (seats).
