HaiVision is selected for next generation
Distance Education system in Northern New York

Montreal, Canada, October 3, 2005 – HaiVision Systems Inc., a global leader in high performance video communication over IP solutions, has been selected by the Development Authority of the North Country for the 33 sites of their next generation distance education video network in northern New York State. HaiVision’s hai500 series multi-stream encoding and decoding system has been selected for its proven ability to deliver high resolution video and super wide band audio over educational networks and its field proven reliability and long term performance. Furthermore, considering the multi-camera, multi-screen configuration of most of the classrooms supported by the Development Authority of the North Country, the hai500 is the most cost effective and easy to deploy solution due to its frame and blade design and the inherent ability to handling up to 5 outgoing and 5 incoming streams within a single network element.

“Seamless high performance inter-operability with our collaborating school districts was a key factor in our decision” states Mr. Robert Juravich, Executive Director of the Development Authority. “Today, the HaiVision systems are used for over ninety six distance learning session every week at locations served by the Development Authority of the North Country. The reliability of the product is unparalleled.” HaiVision products have been deployed extensively in secondary, post secondary, and university level institutions throughout New York State.

“HaiVision is proud to be associated with this important deployment, bringing together critical teaching resources and students that are not in the immediate vicinity. Also, HaiVision understands that these are long term infrastructure investments where managing the lifecycle of technology is critical,” says Francois Gariepy, President of Haivision Systems Inc. “HaiVision is committed to bringing our clients the latest performance while maintaining compatibility with our important installed base within the Distance Education market.”

Before the end of 2005, HaiVision will be introducing H.264 compatibility within the hai500 series as well as the ability to accurately encode and decode computer display (VGA, XGA, SXGA, UXGA) with the xGA Presentor blade. Both important developments are in direct support of requirements within the Distance Education market.
