Global Knowledge to Provide Video-to-the-Desk IT Training Through CyberStar’s ClearStream LiveINTO

July 31, 2001

Two of the industry’s leading players in online training announced today an agreement that will deliver more than 500 technical training programs using IP satellite technology.

Global Knowledge, the world’s largest independent provider of IT education solutions, will make available its catalog of IT training courseware for users of CyberStar’s ClearStream Live, a satellite-based network that provides global broadband quality and satellite efficiencies for all enterprise streaming applications. CyberStar enables broadband services through its seamless global IP satellite/fiber network, allowing companies to avoid network congestion, Internet bottlenecks, and underdeveloped infrastructure. By seamlessly integrating IP technologies with a fiber optic backbone and a global fleet of satellite capacity, CyberStar has built a robust IP multicast network platform optimized for high performance, cost efficiency, and global reach.

“This agreement builds upon Global Knowledge’s commitment to providing highly flexible IT training programs that draw upon our rich tradition of expert courseware development as well as our commitment to new technologies and delivery methods,” says Duncan Anderson, president and CEO of Global Knowledge. “Our work with CyberStar is an important next step in expanding Blended Learning Solutions, which will build out to more than 10,000 hours of industry leading IT educational content into an e-Learning format. This courseware can be delivered anytime, anywhere in the customer’s choice of classroom, virtual classroom, or e-Learning. Our move into satellite delivery positions us to extend our lead in the IT education industry.”

Global Knowledge’s extension into satellite broadcast fits with increasing demand for flexibility in IT training.

“Global Knowledge is by no means just a classroom-based IT training provider anymore,” says Michael Brennan, senior Analyst with IDC. “They have developed one of the largest e-Learning businesses in the world over the past few years. This latest initiative with CyberStar demonstrates the company’s commitment to casting a wide net on the IT professional population by allowing organizations to choose the delivery medium that best meets their circumstances in terms of location, availability of time, and preferred style of learning.”
