Futuremedia’s Solstra 2000(TM) Certified As UK’s First AICC Compliant Learning Management System

August 9, 2000

ARUNDEL, England, — Futuremedia PLC (Nasdaq: FMDAY),

a leading provider of integrated e-learning solutions, today announced that

Solstra 2000 has achieved certification from the Aviation Industry CBT

Committee (AICC). The AICC is a leading international standards body dealing

with inter-operability in learning technologies. The award of AICC

certification makes Futuremedia PLC the UK’s first Learning Management System

vendor to achieve this standard. AICC CMI defines the tracking data exchanged

between learning management systems and interactive courseware. It also

defines an interchange format for course structure so that entire courses can

be exchanged between management systems made by different vendors.

Solstra 2000 is a proven Learning Management System (LMS) that enables

organisations to deliver, track and manage multiple forms of training from one

central system. Through a personalised view, individuals can access the

training and knowledge resources they need for a specific role or function.

Training can be planned in a variety of ways, and development plans can be

created for individual users and groups of users. Solstra was co-developed by

Futuremedia PLC and British Telecom, and has been successfully implemented in

major e-learning initiatives at BT, Ford Motor Company and Glaxo

Pharmaceuticals.

The Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC) certified Solstra 2000 as

compliant with its Web-Based Computer Managed Instruction Systems (CMI)

Guideline (AGR 010). “The certification of Solstra demonstrates that

Futuremedia is quite serious about standards and interoperability,” said

William A. McDonald, chairman of the AICC Independent Test Lab Committee. “We

are quite pleased to add Solstra to the growing list of AICC-Certified CMI

systems.”

Futuremedia PLC CEO, Peter Agertoft commented: “We are delighted that

Solstra 2000 has been certified by the AICC. Our customers must always

consider current and future e-learning requirements and the inter-operability

capabilities of Solstra 2000 give them this flexibility.”

Futuremedia’s Research and Development Manager, Peter Allday added: “AICC

certification reinforces our strategic direction towards a truly open learning

architecture. Our customers do not want vendor-centric solutions, and AICC

compliance demonstrates that Solstra 2000 allows customers greater choice and

flexibility in developing e-learning solutions.”
