The U.S. Department of Energy Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) is

making “Hazard Communication,” a computer-based training (CBT) course package

available to businesses, educational institutions, non-profit organizations,

and government agencies at no cost to recipients. This course acquaints

employees with OSHA’s hazard communication standard (29CFR 1910.1200). It

alerts employees to the potential for exposure to chemical hazards in the

workplace and identifies steps that the employee and employer must take to

ensure employee safety. Topics covered are:

  • Hazard determination

  • Written hazard communication program

  • Warnings and labeling

  • Material safety data sheets

  • Safety practices

The course is designed to fulfill OSHA training requirements concerning the

hazard communication standard. This is a complete, turnkey CBT course that

can be used without modification. It includes interactive exercises to help

trainees master the material. It requires the Macromedia Authorware Web

Player, which is available at no cost. To obtain “Hazard Communication” at no

cost, complete an online application at the website that we operate for CBFO:

http://www.t2ed.com

We will obtain necessary approvals and send you a user ID and a password,

allowing you to download a zipped file containing the course directly from the

web site. You can then use the course for internal training, educational,

research, and/or commercial purposes.
