Eurand SpA Meets Legal Requirements, Cuts Costs with Pathlore

July 18, 2004

“The Pathlore solution is an extremely flexible product, which allows us to deliver everything from new-hire training and basic safety law to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines and computer skills,” said Jacopo Licciardi, Eurand’s human resources manager. “We’re also using the Pathlore system to broadcast to our staff the details of agreements between Eurand and internal labor unions.

“Ninety percent of our Italy-based workforce has already used the Pathlore LMS for some form of training,” Licciardi added. “And in many cases, we’ve seen the LMS as an advantage over classroom instruction.”

According to Licciardi, Eurand’s use of Pathlore’s solution has cut 43 percent from the drug maker’s training costs for basic safety law, legal guidelines and computer skills. Much of that savings comes from relying on Pathlore’s solution to educate workers online instead of hiring consultants and instructors to teach. The Eurand workers access the Pathlore solution first. If the learning management solution cannot provide the instruction that workers require, then Eurand considers creating classroom instruction to meet its employees’ needs.

“The Pathlore learning management solution isn’t just a luxury for us; the system delivers real business benefits in terms of both saving costs and meeting legal requirements,” Licciardi said. “With Pathlore in place, we can measure the price of education by generating detailed reports that tells us what each hour of training costs per worker.”

“E-learning technologies have evolved to provide a wide range of functionality for European organizations of all sizes,” said Michael Brennan, program manager for IDC’s Learning Services Research. “And a number of learning technologies, especially leading learning management suites like Pathlore’s, now deliver education, analyze skills and competencies and create and manage the training content workers need to align their on-the-job goals with their companies’ objectives.”
