ETS Technologies Automated Essay Scoring Will Be Part of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Online Learning Portal for U.S. Army
ETS Technologies, Inc. announced today its e-raterINTO automated essay scoring technology will be used within PricewaterhouseCoopers’ online learning portal providing U.S. Army soldiers convenient and easy access to higher education degrees and advanced training certifications.
The e-rater technology will provide online assessment of soldiers’ writing skills for those soldiers seeking higher education via the Army University Access Online program called eArmyU. Soldiers demonstrate their writing proficiency by writing an essay online before enrolling in distance-learning courses, and essays are scored by e-rater using a set of nationally defined writing standards. An important feature of the product is soldiers and counselors get their test scores within seconds.

EArmyU delivers educational opportunities to soldiers anywhere, any time and brings together an unprecedented collaboration of colleges and universities offering soldiers more than 60 degree programs from 24 educational institutions.
The program provides enrolled Army men and women with a comprehensive technology package, including laptop computer, printer, Internet connection and software. The eArmyU program is now offered at three U.S. Army posts and is expected to offer online courses to an estimated 80,000 soldiers over the next five years.
