Elluminate Helps University of Iowa Expand International Interaction and Collaboration
Pampano Beach, Florida., (October 19, 2004) – Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and Web conferencing solutions for the real-time organization, and The University of Iowa (UI) announced today that UI has selected Elluminate Live!™ Academic Edition™ for use by its Center for International and Rural Environmental Health (CIREH) to provide interactive training and collaboration for a number of national and international programs. In addition, the Henry B. Tippie College of Business will use Elluminate Live!™ to enhance its statewide off-site MBA program and offer an Executive MBA Program in Hong Kong.
With Elluminate Live!â„¢, the CIREH will facilitate international occupational and environmental health training and research through the Fogarty International Training Program. Currently, the center works with seven countries in Central and Eastern Europe. Collaborators in Croatia, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia will also use Elluminate Live!â„¢ to conduct their own internal seminars. The CIREH also plans to introduce the product to the other 15 universities who participate in the international training program network as well as to the World Health Organization Collaborating Centers Network, with 70 locations in 32 countries. Additionally, the CIREH recently received funding to provide weekly seminars for nine U.S. universities for the next two years, supporting an effort to protect the health and safety of agricultural workers.
“We have problems with connectivity in some of our collaborator countries,†said Thomas Cook, Ph.D., a professor in the IU College of Public Health and CIREH director. “Elluminate Live!â„¢ works over Internet connections that are slow and unreliable and also enables us to create a library of recorded sessions that address environmental problems that are similar throughout the world.â€
“We had struggled with another product that was difficult to use,†said Margaret Jesse, director of the Stead Technology Services Group and adjunct lecturer in UI’s Tippie College of Business. “With Elluminate Live!â„¢, the technology is totally transparent and easy to use for our MBA students. I’ve also started a nationwide consortium of business school IT leaders. Once we started using Elluminate Live!â„¢, our meetings immediately became significantly shorter and more productive.â€
“We are thrilled to help UI enhance its innovative global distance education programs,†said Maurice Heiblum, Elluminate’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Elluminate Live!â„¢ enables live discussion and true interaction with no learner left behind.â€
