Element K Provides Online Training for Florida Community College Distance Learning Consortium

April 25, 2001

Element K, a leading provider of e-learning solutions for education, business, and individuals, announced an agreement today with the Florida Community College Distance Learning Consortium, a system-wide entity representing twenty-eight community colleges and more than 800,000 students in Florida. Element K will provide online training for eighteen Florida community colleges, including Miami-Dade Community College, the largest community college in the United States. Through staff training, continuing education, and credit classes, this partnership will enable students, faculty, and staff to remain current on the rapidly changing IT and business management world.

A pioneer in computer training, courseware development, and Web-based learning, Element K offers more than 800 information technology and business courses designed exclusively for the Web. Element K training solutions address the strategic objectives of organizations and individuals by providing them with efficient, flexible, and cost-effective methods of acquiring knowledge and skills, enabling them to expand their competencies and improve their productivity.

“Everyone in the Florida community college system wants and needs IT and computer skills to enhance their specific learning, teaching, or working experience. However, they often don’t have the opportunity to learn these skills,” says Susie Henderson, Associate Executive Director of the Florida Community College Distance Learning Consortium. “The interactivity and 24/7 availability of the Element K e-learning solution creates a special opportunity for our students, faculty, and staff: the opportunity to learn the skills they want – at their own pace – consequently increasing their motivation and desire to learn.”

“The Florida Community College Distance Learning Consortium is one of only a few higher education distance learning consortiums across the country,” said Terry Nulty, president of Element K. “We feel that their choosing Element K as an online learning provider demonstrates the value of our educational offerings for the higher education community.”
